Arvada Lightning Strike Fire

Around 16:25 on June 25th, 2020 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire in the 5300 block of Nelson St. with auto-aid from West Metro Fire Rescue and Fraimount Fire Protection District. JeffCom advised units en-route that 911 caller reporting lightning hit the roof. Rescue 52 arrived to a two-story residential with a working fire, smoke showing from the roof, secured their own water supply and pulled 1 3/4 line for for fire control and search and rescue in the offensive strategy with Medic 52. Tower 56 assigned to the roof and check for fire in the attic. Battalion 51 arrived assumed command on the Alpha side and assigned Battalion 52 as safety, Engine 16 to division 2 and check for extension from the attic and Engine 17 as RIT. Crews got the fire out quickly and started an extended overhaul. The cause is believed to be from a lightning strike and no injuries were reported.
