Boulder County Grass Fire
At 15:15 on August 12th, 2020 Boulder County Communications Center received a report of a grass fire at 11635 Ellingwood Dr. on the Mountain View Egg Farm Open Space property near Hwy. 7 & Anthem Ranch Rd. in unincorporated Boulder County. Crews arrived to a grass fire and started fire attack. Firefighters got the fire out and under control at 16:15, and crews started overhaul on hot spots. Members of the Multi-Agency Fire Investigation Team (MAFIT) responded to investigate the fire. At this time the cause of the fire is believed to be malfunctioning equipment that staff was using for land management activities on the property, however, further investigation is still being conducted. Three firefighters from North Metro Fire Rescue District were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries caused by the heat and smoke conditions. In addition, two North Metro engines sustained damage from the fire. The fire burned approximately 10 acres and no homes were threatened.
