Byers Large Vegetation Fire

At 18:34 on July 22nd, 2020 Byers Fire Protection District was dispatched to a brush fire at E. 72nd Ave. & Calhoun-Byers Rd. by Byers. Battalion Chief 71 reported flames and smoke visible and upgraded the call to a large vegetation fire, and the I-70 Corridor was dispatched. The fire burned about 500 acres and may have been caused by a lightning strike.
