South Metro Barn Fire

At 11:29 on December 23rd, 2020 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a working barn fire in the 6700 block of Chalet Circle in unincorporated Douglas County. Engine 43 arrived to a single-story barn with fire showing, stretched a horizontal standpipe for fire attack in the offensive strategy. Due to no water hydrants in the area, an extra tender were was requested to the scene. District Chief 1 arrived and assumed command. Engine 41 arrived and pulled a 2nd attack line. Tender 46 arrived and set-up water ops to Engine 43, and Safety 35 secured the utilities. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and spent about thirty minutes mopping up hot spots and ventilating the structure, and the rest of the response was cancelled. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
