At 14:36 on March 3rd, 2020 Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched for a residential structure assignment at the 900 block of 24 Rd. Grand Junction Regional Communication Center advised that 911 caller reporting heavy fire burning through trees possibly threatening a home. Truck 3 and Ambulance 3 arrived on scene at 14:47 to heavy fire burning through trees on the west side of the road with a spot fire on the east side. Truck 3 stretched an 1 3/4 hand line for fire attack. Engine 5 arrived within 15 seconds of first due arrival and supplied Truck 3 with their tank water. Truck 1 was third in and supplied Truck 3 with tank water. Crews were able to make their way into the tree line adjacent to the house where they found an involved shed. The fire was knocked down quickly by first and second due companies while additional units assisted in mopping up. Brush 4 made access to back of the fire and put in a wet-line while extinguishing hot spots. The fire was contained to initial affected area and no injuries were reported. The fire was caused by an agricultural burn that got out of control. A tender was mutual aided from Lower Valley for water supply in the rural setting.
