West Metro House Fire

At 17:32 on August 29th, 2020 West Metro Fire Rescue and Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 9800 block of W. 34th Dr. in Wheat Ridge. JeffCom advised RP reporting flames in the home. Engine 17 arrived to a single-family structure with a working fire on the Alpha side and pulled 1 3/4 line in for life safety priority. District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Engine 16 secured the water supply at Johnson St. & W 35th Ave. to Engine 17, Tower 2 started primary search with a 2nd attack line from Engine 17 with Medic 16. Medic 56 arrived and started medical assistance with a patient, and command requested additional medic. Engine 2 assigned utilities and Tower 2 advised that fire extended into the attic space. Crews got the fire under control at 17:48 and started an extended overhaul. The fire cause is under investigation. Additional information proved by West Metro Fire Rescue
