South Metro Haunted House Fire
On October 25th, 2021 at 01:22 South Metro Fire Rescue responded reported brush fire at the Flat Acres Farm, located at 11321 Dransfeldt Rd. in Douglas County. Battalion Chief 4 arrival on scene to a large brush fire with a haunted house engulfed in flames and spreading rapidly into a field of straw bales fanned by gusty winds, and requested a water tender. Battalion Chief 4 assumed command and upgraded the call to a large brush fire response. Engine 41 arrived and started fire attack on the structure with tank water, and command requested additional tenders to the scene for water shuttle operations and front-end loaders to help from the county. Several brush trucks arrived and started fire attack and Tender 45 set-up with water shuttle ops on Twenty Mile Rd. Firefighters and tractor operators contained and mostly extinguished the fire, but the hay continued to smolder for several hours. Crews worked an extensive overhaul until the loss stop at 08:52 and containment at 09:57. No injuries occurred, and the cause is suspicious in nature and under investigation.
