Lakewood Grant Ranch Apartment Fire
West Metro Structure Fire
At 01:40 on January 1st, 2021 West Metro Fire Rescue with auto-aid from South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 7300 block of W. Grant Ranch Blvd. in Lakewood at the Camden Lakeway Apartments. Jeffcom advised that multiple callers reporting apartment building on fire. Engine 12 arrived to a tree-story multi-family with flames showing from the 2nd floor extending to the 3rd floor, started fast attack in the offensive strategy. Rescue 10 arrived and assisted Engine 12 with fire attack with South Metro Engine 11. Truck 14 arrived and started primary search on the 2nd and 3rd floor, and Tower 8 started primary search on the first floor. District 3 arrived and took Camden command in the offensive strategy and life safety priority. Crews got the fire under control after 02:00 and crews started an extensive overhaul. The fire started on the outside of one building and worked its way into a second floor unit and up into the attic. One resident had mild smoke inhalation after rescuing his cat and one firefighter was also injured. Four units were damaged and several residents displaced.
