Northglenn Fatal Garage Fire
North Metro Garage Fire
On January 8th, 2021 at 15:21 North Metro Fire Rescue District was dispatched to a structure fire in the 11100 block of Pinyon Dr. in Northglenn. Battalion 62 noticed a large plume of smoke from E. 112th Ave. & Washington St. and called for a major incident tone to be struck. Dispatched notified incoming units of a possible party trapped in the garage. Crews arrived on scene to a fully involved garage fire and one party unaccounted for. Northglenn Police reported a shed to the east of the garage catching fire and evacuated the neighboring house. Truck 62 arrived on scene and established exposure protection. Engine 63 arrived and established their own water supply and pulled a 2 1/2 line for fire operations. Truck 6 assigned exposure protection on the Bravo side, Engine 72 assigned exposure protection on the Delta side. Police notified dispatch of a small brush fire on the north side of the structure and command called for 2 more engines to the scene. Engine 72 and Truck 6 worked together to extinguish the brush fire. Engine 72 informed command of the roof on the on Charlie side of the garage had significantly sagging on the roof line and everyone was informed to not enter the garage. Crews found 1 fatality on scene. Collapse 66 was requested to the scene, and crews worked to stabilize the structure for fire investigators to begin investigating the cause.
