South Adams County Stolen Squad

At approximately 9:00 on April 4th, 2021 South Adams County Fire Department and Northglenn Ambulance/ South Adams County Paramedics were dispatched to a medical call at Mi Pueblo Market near the intersection of E. 64th Ave. and Kearney St. in Commerce City. The initial report indicated a man was complaining of difficulty breathing. Commerce City Police advised that while being evaluated, the patient walked away from firefighters, got into Squad 22, a 2019 Ford F-550 and drove off. Police pursued the stolen apparatus north on Interstate 76 and then west on E. 12th Ave. Law enforcement deployed stop sticks and deflated the right rear tires of the squad.  The vehicle came to a stop on E. 120th Ave. just west of Hwy. 85 where the driver unsuccessful tried to steal another vehicle passing by. One party was taken into custody and transported to the Adams County Jail, and faces charges of aggravated motor vehicle theft, attempted robbery and vehicular eluding. SAC firefighters at the scene of the recovery advised that the initial crew in Squad 22 was okay. A victim’s assistance advocate was called to the scene to support the occupants of the vehicle involved in the attempted theft.
