South Metro Water Recovery
On May 7th, 2022 at approximately 18:45 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a water rescue near the west boat ramp in Cherry Creek State Park. A 29 year old man, who was tubing behind a boat, went under and failed to surface. Authorities believe the man was not wearing a life vest. After about 90 minutes the search turned into a recovery effort. Rescuers were on scene until 04:00 looking for the subject. Crews returned early Sunday morning to continue the search using sonar and drones. The search was suspended Sunday evening due to wind conditions and is expected to resume on Monday.
