Denver ARFF Live Fire Training
Denver ARFF Live Fire Training
The Denver Fire Department conducted Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting training at their ARFF Training Center at Denver International Airport on April 25th, 2022. Firefighters began their day by using hose lines to advance on and extinguish fires on the outside of an aircraft Firefighters then responded to a simulated crash using ARFF trucks which are specially designed to handle emergencies involving airplanes. After extinguishing the exterior fire, firefighters made entry in to the plane to douse any inside fires and rescue victims. About two years ago, the Denver Fire Department obtained a new live fire training simulator at DIA that allows firefighters to train in a realistic, controlled and safe environment. The simulator may be controlled remotely and allows for instructors to set a variety of fires both in and outside the airplane.
