Palisade Mock DUI Crash

At approximately 13:15 on April 22nd, 2022 Palisade Fire Department and Palisade Police Department in conjunction with Colorado State Patrol and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to Palisade High School, 3679 G Road on a reported (mock) MVA with unknown injuries. Law enforcement arrived at a crash and detained one student suspected of Driving Under the Influence. Palisade Fire Department arrived and began patient care. The first patient was removed from the red car and transported to a local hospital. A second person was removed from the red vehicle and taken into custody by Palisade Police Department with minor injuries, while a second patient, the back-seat passenger, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A third patient in the white car was extricated after 6-8 minutes and airlifted by Careflight of the Rockies. The Mesa County Coroner arrived and took custody of the deceased. The Colorado State Patrol took over investigation of the crash. Clifton Fire Protection District command staff also participated in the event.

One in three alcohol-related teen traffic fatalities occurred during the prom season, from April to June, (NHSTA).
