Larimer County Natural Resources hosted Ranger Excellence School at the Ridgeline Hotel in Estes Park from May 16th to May 20th, 2022. 5280Fire caught up with the group for scenario day on May 20th, 2022. The cold and snowy weather forced the scenarios to move from Hermit Park into the conference center at the hotel, where rangers practiced many of the techniques they learned over the week. Throughout the week rangers took classes on verbal judo, defensive driving, low angle rescues, Spanish, outdoor survival, law, swift water rescue, medical management, crisis intervention, self defense, leadership, first aid, baton certification, pepper spray certification and water survival. Rangers from Adams County, Boulder County, Commerce City, Denver, Fort Collins, Greeley, Highlands Ranch, Larimer County, Louisville, Washoe County Nevada and deputies from Larimer County participated in scenario day.
