Thornton Open Space Vegetation Fire
Thornton Brush Fire
On November 8th, 2022 at 15:20 Thornton Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire in the area of E. 128th Ave. & Quebec St. Battalion 72 advised heavy black smoke in the air from E. 120th Ave. & Washington St. and requested for two additional brush trucks. Engine 76 arrived to large grass fire with heavy movement at E. 129th Place & Valentia St. and pulled a bumper pre-connect for fire attack in the offensive strategy and secured their own water supply. Brush 76 arrived at E. 128th Place and Valentia St. in the open space with fire burning close to homes in the cattails, and started fire attack and structure protection with Brush 63. Engine 77 arrived and established a water supply set-up off Tamarac St. at E. 129th Ave. with structure protection and deployed the deck gun. Engine 63 assigned with Engine 76 with fire attack and structure protection. Brush 55 arrived and assigned to the east side of the fire by the Bratner Gulch close to E. 128th Ave. & Riverdale Rd. The fire was put under control at 15:47 and crews started overhaul on hot spots. The cause is unknown and no injuries were reported.
