Franktown 2nd Alarm Fire

On October 6th, 2023 at 17:37 Franktown Fire Protection District with South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire in the 5000 block of Carefree Trail in the Pradera neighborhood. Engine 184 arrived on scene to a two-story residential with smoke showing from the roof and pulled a line in for fire attack and secured their own water supply. Battalion Chief 4 upgraded to a confirmed structure fire and added a truck company and Battalion 181 arrived and assumed command. Engine 46 arrived and started fire attack on the Charlie side roof and Engine 42 assisted. Battalion Chief 4 arrived and took over command with active fire from the attic space. Tower 45 started aerial master stream operations and Engine 46 reported heavy attic involvement. Command requested two additional engines. Engine 182 secured a 2nd water supply to Tower 45. Firefighters reported a collapse in the structure and heavy fire conditions, Command switched to defensive operations and the incident was upgraded to a 2nd alarm. Crews worked fire into the evening before getting it under control and starting an extender overhaul and investigation. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
