Rocky Mountain Arsenal Controlled Burn 2023
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service conducted a prescribed burn at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in Commerce City on March 15th, 2023. Firefighters burned about 200 acres to reinvigorate the growth of native prairie vegetation, reduce litter, manage efforts for weed control and improve habitat to sustain wildlife. Firefighters from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Wildland Fire Management, U.S. Forest Service, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Aurora Fire Rescue, Hygiene Fire Protection District and South Adams County Fire Department assisted with the burn.
