Arvada Large Brush Fire

On July 4th, 2024 at 21:23 Arvada Fire Protection District Engine 51 responded to a reported grass fire in the 6700 block of W. 51st Ave. Jeffcom updated the call as a house on fire and a structure response was requested. Engine 51 arrived to find a large brush fire threatening structures from I-76 with no structures on fire and to start a working brush fire response. Engine 51 pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and Battalion 51 arrived and assumed command. Engine 16 secured the water supply to Engine 51 on W. 51st Ave. Truck 54 arrived on I-76 and started fire attack from the road to Engine 51 and Engine 17. Crews were able to get a quick knock on the fire at 21:36 and crews started overhaul on hot spots. Additional information provided by Arvada Fire Protection District
