Rabbit Mountain Fire

On August 22nd, 2024 at 15:26 Boulder County Communications (1800) dispatched units to a possible wildland fire at the Rabbit Mountain Open Space, 14950 55th St. in unincorporated Boulder County with multiple 911 callers reporting smoke in the area. Crews arrived to a confirmed wildland fire and the call was upgraded. FM 6561 found active flames reaching 2 to 3 feet in rugged terrain in grass, brush, and ponderosa understory with a slow rate of spread. The Rabbit Mountain Trailhead was closed during the fire. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. The fire burned about over 2 acres and the cause is under investigation.
