On October 20th, 2020 around 10:15 Clifton Fire Protection District was dispatched by the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center for a single vehicle rollover at Exit 37 on I-70 involving a semi tractor trailer. First arriving units found a semi on it’s driver side blocking both lanes of traffic going westbound. The semi was reported to have come off the on-ramp at a higher rate speed causing it shift it’s load and roll. The driver was reported to be okay. 25-50 gallons diesel spilled from a saddle tank and a hazmat team was requested to the scene from the city. Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol, Palisade Police, and Mesa County Sheriff assisted with traffic control. Traffic was diverted to the off-ramp and through I-70 Business Loop as a detour. The spill was mitigated by hazmat crews.
