Arapahoe County South Parker Road Commercial Fire
Commercial Structure Fire
At 18:30 on May 26th, 2024 South Metro Fire Rescue Engine 21 was dispatched to an outside fire involving trees and fence behind 1972 S. Parker Rd. in Arapahoe County. A plume of smoke was already visible from Station 21 and Arapahoe County Sheriff Deputies reported flames extending into the building. With that information the response was upgraded to a commercial structure fire and additional resources were dispatched. Engine 21 laid supply line from a hydrant along Parker Rd. and positioned at the rear of the building where a large volume of fire was visible, and a live power line had fallen. Firefighters began suppressing the exterior flames consuming the back of a single-story auto shop and advanced additional hose lines to the front of the building were turbulent smoke poured from the garage doors. Parker Rd. was closed both directions due to a second water supply hose being laid across the roadway. Due to the amount of fire inside the unoccupied building, a defensive strategy was used, and crews worked from the outside to darken down the fire. Once conditions improved, Firefighters made entry into the building and fully extinguished hot spots. The incident was placed under control 70 minutes into the call and no injuries occurred. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating what caused the fire. Information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue.
