On August 9th, 2025 friends and family as well as firefighters from across southern Colorado gathered to remember and celebrate the life of Pueblo Fire Department Chief Keith Novak at the Praise Assembly, 2000 Troy Ave. in Pueblo. Chief Novak passed away unexpectedly while off duty on July 27th, 2025. Chief Novak was 55 years-old and was a U.S. Navy veteran and served with Pueblo Fire Department for over 30 years before being promoted to Deputy Chief in 2022 and was last stationed as a captain at Station 7 on Pueblo Blvd. He was also a member of Pueblo County Beekeepers Association, Rocky Mountain Wolf Project, International Association of Fire Chiefs and Colorado State Fire Chiefs. Before the ceremony there was a small procession through Pueblo. AMR, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC), Colorado Springs Fire Department, La Junta Fire Department, Pueblo Fire Department, Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Division (ESD), Pueblo Police Department, Pueblo Rural Fire Protection District, Rocky Ford Fire Department, Rye Fire Protection District, West Park Volunteer Fire Department and others were part of the procession or at the funeral.
