South Metro Wildland Fire

On September 20th, 2025 at approximately 14:45 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported wildland fire along the Piney Creek Trail near 18040 E. Lake Ave. in Arapahoe County. Crews arrived on scene and found a small fire burning in heavy brush in the middle of an open space area. Due to the thick brush, firefighters had difficulty accessing the scene. Crews on scene about an hour extinguishing the fire and mopping up hots spots. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
