Strasburg Structure Fire

At 22:30 on September 21st, 2025 South Metro Fire Dispatch alerted the I-70 Corridor of a reported residential structure fire on E. 114th Ave. in Strasburg’s District. Additional 911 callers and the Adams County Sheriffs Office reported visible fire from a significant distance away. The homeowner also reported ammunition stored in a shed that was cooking off. First arriving Battalion Chief 91 sized up an outbuilding on fire with multiple exposures burning or threatened and declared a defensive strategy, with one threatened structure as the priority. A secondary priority was a tree line and pastureland to the north of the main body of fire. Two attack lines were pulled from Engine 81 for fire attack on the main body of fire and Brush Engine 71 was assigned the potential wildland component. Water supply operations were assigned to Tender 91 with multiple additional Tenders supporting the incident. Fire containment was declared at 23:12, however, the large combustible load involved required significant overhaul for another hour. Ultimately the fire destroyed two outbuildings and a travel trailer, with heat damage to another building and several additional vehicles. Investigation showed that the embers from a burn put apparently got into a wood pile, that then spread quickly. Information provided by Strasburg Fire Protection District
