Foothills Oven Fire Call
On January 20th, 2026 at 09:30 Foothills Fire Protection District, Genesee Fire Protection District, Indian Hills Fire Rescue and Highland Rescue was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 21400 block of Shady Lane in Idledale. Jeffcom 911 advised that 911 caller reporting the oven was on fire on the 2nd floor of the home and no fire extinguisher available. Crews arrived to a two-story single-family with nothing showing and started the investigation. Crews found no working fire in the kitchen and the rest of the response was cancelled. The home owner explained that they had set the oven for cleaning, and after a short while the oven started putting a great amount of smoke. Crews also disconnected two hard-wired smoke alarms and used a fan for ventilation to clear smoke before reconnection them both back up. The homeowner was very shaken up from the incident and would be visiting her local fire station to see what the best fire extinguisher for the home would be. No injuries were reported.
