Spring Prescribed Burn

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service conducted a prescribed burn at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refugee in Commerce City on March 9th, 2025. This is one of several planned burns. These seasonal burns are designed to reinvigorate the growth of native prairie vegetation, improve habitat for wildlife, reinvigorate the growth of native vegetation and manage efforts for weed control. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Wildland Fire ManagementArvada Fire Protection District, Castle Rock Fire Rescue, Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District, Mountain View Fire Rescue, North Metro Fire Rescue, South Adams County Fire Department, South Metro Fire Rescue, West Metro Fire Rescue, Westminster Fire Department, United States Army, and U.S. Forest Service assisted with the prescribed burn.
