
Jefferson County Mount Glennon Back Country Rescue
West Metro Back Country Rescue
On May 2nd, 2026 at 15:21 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a back country rescue on Mount Glennon in Morrison. Jeffcom 911 advised that a hiker was calling in after falling approximately 30 feet from a cliff with a unknown location. Engine 9 arrived off Soda Lakes Rd. west of C-470 for access up the trail with Medic 10. District 2 arrived and assumed command and Truck 14 and Rescue 14 assigned to access the trail off of the Hwy. 8 side with Rescue 10. Crews had difficulty locating the victim due to the location and not having a GPS tracking device. After an extensive search and extreme hike in steep terrain and utilizing the ping of the victims’ phone, rescuers eventually located the hiker with an extended carried out. Command requested a medical helicopter to the scene to transport the injured patient. AirLife Lifeguard 2 landed on Hwy. 8 and the patient was transported by air to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
