Sharpe Fire
The Sharpe Fire is burning in Baca County, Colorado and started on May 16th, 2026 around 05:30 in Cimarron County, Oklahoma on the Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands and crossed into Colorado on May 17th, 2026 around 21:17 with strong southwest winds and burning on the Comanche Ranger District of the Pike-San Isabel National Forests. Firefighters are working the fast-moving fire in dry conditions, low humidity and heavy powerful winds in dry grasslands. The Pueblo Interagency Zone Type III Team assumed command of the fire on May 18th, 2026. As of May 20th, 2026 the fire has burned 29,000 acres in Oklahoma and at 80% containment and 16,240 acres in Colorado and is at 100% containment. Some structures were reported in the town of Campo were destroyed.
