At 06:12 on May 28th, 2026 Westminster Fire Department and North Metro Fire Rescue District responded to a possible structure fire in the 10000 block of Grove Court. Battalion 1 advised that smoke in the air from W. 92nd Ave, &  Federal Blvd. Westminster 911 received several 911 callers, with Westminster Police officers on scene reporting that fire on the patio and extending to the roof and starting evacuating the two attached townhomes and advised that a patient was down in the back of the building with burns. Battalion 1 upgraded the call with additional engine and medic to the scene. Engine 2 arrived to a medium two-story townhouse with a working fire and pulled 1 3/4 for fire control on the Alpha side. Battalion 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy on the Alpha side and assigned Engine 4 with the water supply to Engine 2, Truck 2 with the primary search and Medic 2 for patient care and Medic 62 with a second patient. The fire was put under control at 06:27 and crews started overhaul on the fire unit. There were three occupants inside at the time of the fire, all were able to self-evacuate and three patients were transported to a local hospital. The family dog also made it out safely. Later, one cat was found alive, while, sadly, another was found deceased inside the home. The fire did not spread to neighboring units, and those homes remain habitable. The fire is under investigation. Additional information provided by Westminster Fire Department
