Pueblo County Quartz Fire
Around 18:50 on June 17th, 2026 Pueblo County Sheriff Emergency Services Division (ESD) was dispatched to the 1400 block of Quartz Rd. on a reported brush fire. Callers reported a fire visible from the interstate, possibly a brush fire. It was then determined to be a trash pile burning at the C&C Disposal Transfer Station. The fire had quickly spread to several vehicles including trash trucks as well as a small outbuilding due to high winds, temperatures, and red flag conditions. Mutual-aid was requested from Pueblo West Fire Department for a Type 6 and because of the proximity to the city, Pueblo Fire Department sent multiple engines and a Type 6 as well. A tender task force was requested due to the lack of hydrants in the area and water shuttling being necessary. Crews were able to contain the fire to the property and were on scene until on June 18th, 2026 around 03:00 extinguishing the fire. The fire burned 11 vehicles and a small shed on the property.
