Working House Fire

At 11:04 on June 27th, 2018 North Metro Fire Rescue District responded to a structure fire in the 7000 block of 119th Place in Broomfield. Dispatch advising units enroute that multiple 911 callers reporting flames showing from the backyard. Engine 67 arrived on scene to a single-story residential with flames showing and started fast attack on the fire in the backyard. Battalion 61 arrived and assumed command, Engine 65 arrived and pulled a second line off Engine 67 for fire attack on the Bravo side. Truck 62 arrived and pulled a line in on the Charlie side and Engine 64 established a water supply. Engine 61 pulled a line in and assisted Engine 64 with primary search, and crews found heavy fire in the attic space. Medic 64 was assigned as medical and Command requested additional 2 engines, 1 truck and a medic to the scene. Medic 66 arrived and set-up as rehab, with crews workeing the fire in 100-degree temperatures. The fire was put under control at 12:08. Westminster Fire Department and Thornton Fire Department responded with mutual-aid. Two adults and three children were inside, when they noticed smoke in the home, and the mother looked outside and saw smoke and fire in her backyard. The family escaped the home with no injures, but the house was destroyed and the family lost some of their pets. The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental related to some electrical wiring outside. Victim advocates from the Broomfield Police Department as well as the American Red Cross and A Precious Child were on scene.
