Mesa County Sheriff SWAT Team

Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT)

The mission of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) is to resolve high-risk incidents in a safe manner.  The SWAT team is called upon to respond to a variety of incidents including hostage incidents, armed barricaded persons, and high-risk search warrants, just to name a few.

The SWAT team is a “part-time” team, which means the SWAT team members primarily serve in other positions within the agency on a daily basis.  The SWAT team members are selected based upon their knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Each SWAT team member receives regular training to enhance the SWAT team’s effectiveness and abilities to achieve our mission.  In addition, the SWAT team works to raise money and awareness for our Special Olympians and Special Olympics.  They organize our Law Enforcement Torch Run, participate in Special Olympic Games, and work Tip-a-Cop to support our special athletes.
