Vail Mountain Rescue Group

Vail Mountain Rescue Group (VMRG) was founded in 1977 as a group of local ski patrollers, ranchers, mountain climbers, and wilderness guides to provide back country search & rescue for 1,700 square miles of mountain terrain in Eagle County as well as public education on back country safety.  VMRG are unpaid volunteers and provide their services free of charge. VMRG is certified through the Mountain Rescue Association (MRA) and operates under the authority of the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
