Fort Meade (VA Medical Center) Fire Department, established in 1878 and located in Meade County (South Dakota) including the areas of Black Hills, Centennial Trail & VA Black Hills Health Care Center.

Fort Meade Fire Department is part of the (Department of Veterans Affairs) VA Black Hills Health Care Center (BHHCS). BHHCS has two locations, one located in Fort Meade, South Dakota, and the other facility is located in Hot Springs, South Dakota, some 90 miles away. Prior to 1996, Fort Meade and Hot Springs were independently operated. The facilities were merged in July of 1996 to eliminate duplicative services and staffing.
