South Metro Electric Scooter Fire
At 12:10 on September 30th, 2025 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported multi-family structure fire in the 8200 block of E. Harvard Ave. in unincorporated Arapahoe County. South Metro Fire Dispatch received a 911 call reporting smoke coming from a second-floor apartment and Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office on scene reporting flames and smoke showing and the call was upgraded to a confirmed structure fire. Engine 21 arrived on scene to a medium size three-story and stretched a line to the Charlie side for fire attack and the primary search with Medic 21 and Medic 211. Crews entered the affected apartment unit and discovered an electric scooter that had been extinguished by the building’s fire sprinkler system and requested hazmat to the scene for lithium-ion battery fire. Battalion 3 arrived and took over command on the Alpha side. Crews quickly contained the fire, conducted a primary search, and removed the scooter from the apartment. The lithium-ion battery was package proper disposal. The American Red Cross was requested to the scene the displaced residents. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue.
