Aurora Brush Fire

On March 17th, 2025 at approximately 15:20 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported brush fire in the Ponderosa Preserve, behind 8032 S. Kenwaunee St. Crews arrived on scene to find a moderate sized fire wind driven grass fire burning in the open space in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Crews were on scene about two hours extinguishing the fire, mopping up hot spots and cutting down trees. The burned approximately 2-3 acres and was dangerously close to numerous homes before it was contained. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
