West Metro MCI MVA

On December 6th, 2025 at 19:34 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to an MVA on Kipling St. just north of W. 6th Ave. in Lakewood. Engine 3 arrived to a two-vehicle T-bone MVA involving a transport bus with multiple patients and trapped parties and an extrication response was requested. Command requested a MCI Strike Team of Ambulance to respond. Each vehicle sustained heavy damage and several patients needed extrication. 14 patients were transported to local hospitals, 10 from the bus and four from the vehicle. The transport bus was a Mesa County Valley School District # 51 which was carrying a wrestling team and coaches from the Central High School in Grand Junction. Lakewood Police Department secured the scene and provided traffic control and the investigation. Both directions of Kipling St. were closed from the W. 6th Ave. to W. 8th Ave. during the incident.
