South Metro Vinegarroon Road House Fire
South Metro Structure Fire
At 01:58 on May 7th, 2025 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire at 8501 Vinegarroon Rd. in Unincorporated Douglas County. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire actively burning in the attic through the roof of a single-family home. Two occupants and a dog safely evacuated prior to arrival and no injuries were reported. Challenging weather conditions created extremely slick and muddy roads in the area, making access to the scene difficult and required responding units to proceed with caution. Franktown Fire and Elizabeth Fire assisted SMFR on scene, providing additional apparatus and water tenders to support operations. Firefighters opened the ceiling in the living room to access the attic and the fire was brought under control. Crews conducted extensive overhaul to check for any remaining fire extension and hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation by SMFR’s Fire Marshal’s Office. Due to road conditions, SMFR Fleet Division responded to assist apparatus with safely exiting the area as the scene was cleared. Douglas County Road and Bridge was also requested for assistance.
