West Metro Townhome Fire

On March 13th, 2025 at 20:19 West Metro Fire Rescue and South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 8300 block of S. Independence Circle in Jefferson County. Jeffcom 911 advised on multiple callers reporting fire on the 2nd and 3rd floors with evacuation in progress. Engine 12 arrived to a large three-story multi-family townhome with active fire on the 2nd floor extending to the 3rd floor and went into fast attack and search with Medic 12. Engine 13 arrived and secured the water supply to Engine 12 and then pulled a 1 3/4 to the 3rd floor for search and fire attack. Rescue 10 arrived and started aerial operations on the Charlie side. District 2 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha-Delta corner in the offensive strategy. The fire was put under control and crews started overhaul and the investigation. All residents were able to evacuate safely. WMFR investigator has determined that the fire started on the second-floor balcony of one unit, then moved to the third floor and into the attic. At this time, the cause is believed to be an electrical malfunction, although the investigation is ongoing. Proper sprinkler activation on both floors of the building undoubtedly reduced damage to the two units and the entire structure. The fire damaged two units in one building, and there was smoke and water damage to two other units. Four families were displaced and no injuries.
