Lakewood Vacant Building Fire
On October 17th, 2025 at 10:36 West Metro Fire Rescue and Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a possible structure fire in the 1400 block of Pierce St. in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 received several 911 callers reporting smoke and flames showing from a building. Engine 1 arrived to a working fire from a single-story vacant building and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and advised that best access is off Otis St. between W. 14th Ave. and W. Colfax Ave. Engine 16 arrived and secured the water supply to Engine 1 and Tower 2 started the primary search. Engine 3 pulled a 2nd line of Engine 1 to the Alpha side. Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly and start on the overhaul. During incident, a water main broke and crews were also worked on mitigating flooding at a property adjacent to the fire. Water rapidly filled the street and crews used a 5 inch line, as to create a barrier and prevent water from entering the apartment. Consolidated Mutual Water closed the water valve, which supplied water to the broken water main. The fire cause is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
