Clear Creek Motel Fire

On February 4th, 2026 at approximately 00:07 Clear Creek Fire Authority and Clear Creek EMS was dispatched to a possible structure fire at 2631 Colorado Blvd. at the Idaho Springs Motel. Jeffcom 911 advised that caller reporting smoke from the attic and evacuation in progress from Idaho Springs Police officers. Engine 721 arrived to smoke showing from the eves, started fire attack and the primary searches and requested mutual-aid. Captain 71 arrived and assumed command to a medium size wood framed structure with heavy smoke showing. Engine 731 arrived and secured a water supply and pulled a line in for fire attack. Crews worked heavy fire that went through the attic space. The fire was put under control within an hour with all searches clear and crews worked an extensive overhaul. All residents were evacuated and no injuries were reported and one kitten was missing. Colorado Blvd. was closed during the incident. The cause is under investigation. A total of 9 residents were displaced and the Clear Creek Advocates assisted with temporary housing.
