Thornton Brush Fire

On July 17th, 2026 at 17:42 Thornton Fire Department, Adams County Fire Rescue, Westminster Fire Department and North Metro Fire Rescue District responded to a vegetation fire at the Niver Creek Open Space, 401 W. 88th Ave. Crews arrived to a grass fire burning along I-25 between W. 88th Ave. and Thornton Parkway with heavy timber. Battalion 62 arrived and assumed command. The fire was put out with no structures threatened and crews worked on overhaul and hot spots. The fire burned approximately 2 acres.
