On May 6th, 2013 at 08:17 Poudre Fire Authority responded to a report of smoke coming off the roof and a fire alarm sounding at a one story commercial building at 2400 Midpoint Dr. Engine 6 arrived and found a haze of smoke in the area and were informed by occupants that they thought the fire in an interior lab room was extinguished. When firefighters reached the room they found an active fire and one fire sprinkler holding the fire from spreading. A second alarm was requested due to the size of the building and potential for fire spread. The Hazardous Materials Team also responded as there was a report of chemicals involved.  The remaining fire was quickly extinguished. Firefighters made sure there was no fire extension along with removing smoke from the building and searching for any potential occupants who did not evacuate.  The Hazardous Materials Team determined there was no potential for the chemicals to spread outside the building and there was not any threat to the public. Firefighters who had been inside the building went through a process of decontamination before returning to service. A Hazardous Material remediation company was called and the building was turned back over to the owner/occupants. Additional information provided by Poudre Fire Authority
