North Table Mountain Fire

At 17:30 on July 22nd, 2016 Fairmount Fire Protection District was alerted to a wildland fire on North Table Mountain, with Jefferson County Open Space Park Rangers reporting smoke and flames showing near the tower on the the northside of Table Mountain, and receiving multiple 911 calls of smoke showing widely visible from the top. Crews arrived to several acres involved, and requested mutual-aid from Golden Fire DepartmentWest Metro Fire Rescue & Arvada Fire Protection District. Some pre-evacuations were sent out to residents in the area, but no structures were threatened. The fire burned about 30 acres and was contained after 20:30, and reported that the cause of the fire was sparked by a lightning strike.
