South Adams Trash Fire

At approximately 16:00 on June 15th, 2017 South Adams County Fire Department was dispatched to a large trash fire at the Waste Management Denver Disposal and Transfer Station at 6091 Brighton Boulevard in Commerce City. Firefighters arrived on scene within ten minutes and found heavy fire quickly spreading throughout the large the mounds of trash. Crews set up two aerial streams, two deck guns and several hose lines on the ground. Firefighters from South Adams County, Adams County Fire Rescue and Suncor Energy Fire Department & Emergency Services were on scene for hours battling the blaze and overhauling the debris. Heavy black smoke could be seen around the metro area and impeded traffic on nearby Interstate 270. No injuries were reported.
