2nd Alarm Storage Warehouse Fire

At 23:48 on December 6th, 2018 Adams County Communications Center (Adcom) dispatched out Adams County Fire Rescue with mutual-aid from Westminster Fire Department to a structure fire at 1327 E. 73rd Ave. at G & F Storage off Lafayette St. in Welby. Adcom advised units en route that Adams County Sheriff reported fully engulfed storage units in the middle of the complex. Truck 14 arrived on scene to a one-story storage warehouse with flames showing, pulled a 2 1/2 pre-connect in the offensive strategy. Battalion 11 arrived and assumed command, Engine 13 established a water supply to Truck 14. Engine 11 and Engine 12 opened up the overhead doors to check for extension. Truck 12 arrived and assigned to secure their own water supply with Medic 12, and set-up the aerial for possible defensive ops. Battalion 1 arrived and assigned as Alpha Supervisor with Engine 11 & Engine 12. Engine 13 pulled a 2nd line off Truck 14 and set-up horizontal standpipe. Medic 11 established Rehab on the Charlie-Delta side. Crews reported small explosions inside the units and heavy fire, Command requested a 2nd Alarm at 00:15 and requested two aerials. With fire through the roof, Command switched from offensive to defensive operations. Chief 15 arrived as safety officer, Truck 14 and Truck 12 set-up aerial master streams to control the fire. Safety request emergency traffic with ammo going off in one of the fire units. Crews got the fire under control and out at 01:18. North Metro Fire Rescue District, Thornton Fire Department, Federal Heights Fire Department, South Adams County Fire Department & North Metro Fire Rescue District responded on the 2nd alarm. The fire is under investigation with no reported injuries.
