Watkins Brush Fire

Around 6:00 on June 14th, 2018 Bennett Watkins Fire Rescue was assisted by Strasburg Fire Protection DistrictSable Altura Fire RescueByers Fire Protection District, Brighton Fire Rescue District, Aurora Fire Department and Buckley Fire & Emergency Services on a large brush fire at I-70 & Quail Run Rd. that threatened the Galamb’s Mobile Home Park, which came within 300 yards from the trailer park and also threatened the Bennett-Watkins Fire Station 92. Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly, which burned 114.3 acres with around 50 residents that were evacuated, and lifted at 10:00. No injuries and no structures were lost. The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) also responded.
