South Metro Engine 13 Accident

At 23:55 on August 10th, 2019 South Metro Fire Rescue Engine 13 was involved in a traffic collision in front of the fire station located at 6290 W. Coal Mine Rd. in Jefferson County. The Engine was responding to a fire alarm and was turning left (westbound) onto Coal Mine and was struck by an eastbound sedan. The driver of the sedan was injured and immediately treated by firefighters and paramedics from the Engine involved and the Medic unit in quarters at the station. After a brief extrication the driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The Firefighters involved in the collision were not injured and another Engine was dispatched to the original fire alarm call in the 5700 block of S. Ingalls St. No problem was found at that location. Colorado State Patrol is investigating the collision. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue.
