Arvada Fatal House Fire

At 01:18 on July 15th, 2020 Arvada Fire Protection District was dispatched by JeffCom to a residential structure fire with people inside in the 7100 block of Swadley Circle in Arvada. Battalion 52 arrived on scene to a working fire from a single-family home with heavy flames and smoke showing from the back of the home. Firefighters entered the home for search, rescue and fire attack. Two victims were removed by firefighters and transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased. A third victim was able to leave the home prior to our arrival and was transported to a local hospital. This person remains hospitalized and their condition currently is unknown. Initially two other residents of the home were unaccounted for but were later found safe. Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the fire, but the home suffered significant damage. The fire spread and caused damage to a neighboring home, and a 2nd alarm was requested. Multiple pets perished in the fire, however two dogs were rescued and given care by Arvada Animal Control. There were no firefighter injuries. The fire is under investigation. Arvada Police located the unaccounted persons and assisted the scene during fire operations and the investigation.
