Grand Junction Hiker Rescue

At 12:09 on May 2nd, 2020 Grand Junction Fire Department Station 1 and Station 4 were dispatched to reports of a person that had fallen off a cliff at the Little Park Trailhead. The patient was reported to be hiking alone and was found by other hikers. The patient was located on the the Ribbon Trail off of Andy’s Loop. Rescue 1 crew hiked in with stokes and evaluated the patient, packing them for transport. Battalion 1 assumed command and staged above the fall site. Due to the patient’s reported condition, a medical helicopter was requested, and due to the location of the patient and their condition, Mesa County Search and Rescue was dispatched to assist in transporting the patient to the landing zone for rendezvous with helicopter. Medic 1, Ambulance 4, Mesa County Sheriff and Mesa County Search and Rescue staged with Rescue 1 at the trailhead. The incident took just under two hours to package the patient and transport them via helicopter.
